Our Mission and Vision:

The Puyallup Open Door community works collaboratively and intentionally to build relationships with all students and to recognize the value of both their educational and personal experiences as we prepare them for the next chapter in their life.

The Puyallup Online Academy community, through digital learning and a relationship-driven approach, works to support students’ educational goals while providing preparation for college, career, and life.

Puyallup Digital Learning (PDL) is a fully accredited online school in partnership with the Puyallup School District. PDL provides a way for students to take classes over the Internet, learning at their own pace, on their own schedule, and primarily, in their own environment.  Since it is part of the Puyallup School District,  Puyallup Digital Learning is tuition-free for all students. Students may start at any time. Call or email for an appointment today.

With  Puyallup Digital Learning, students have access to a wide variety of engaging classes. They earn a high school diploma from the Puyallup School District upon completing the program.  Students have their own graduation ceremony in June.

Students enrolled in Puyallup Digital Learning are either in Puyallup Open Doors (POD) or  Puyallup Online Academy (POA).
For both programs:
 - Over 100 courses available, including core, hybrid, elective, advanced placement (AP), diagnostic, interventions, and credit retrieval.
 - Students enrolled in Puyallup Digital Learning are students of the top-rated Puyallup School District.
 - The curriculum and teachers of the Puyallup Digital Learning are accredited through AdvancED.

School Vision:
Puyallup Digital Learning students will be:

  • Treated with dignity and respect

  • Life-long learners who are responsible and productive citizens

  • Confident, goal-driven and capable people

  • Inclusive and accept differences in others

  • Advocates for the social, physical and mental wellness of themselves and others

  • Hopeful about the future

  • School Beliefs:

    • All students deserve to feel worthy and capable.
    • Student success is not solely measured in arbitrary standards.
    • Students deserve to make big goals and big dreams.
    • Students have different learning styles, and it is our job to meet those needs.
    • Students learn best when they feel connected to their school and school staff.
    • It is our job to provide academic support to students and staff to create an effective and engaging learning environment.
    • It is our job to intentionally work to build and promote positive staff to student, staff to staff, and student to student relationships to help students achieve their goals.
    • It is important that we give 100% effort in supporting students and staff to be an effective member of a team.
    • When you learn students’ individual interests, you build a stronger connection which can lead to increased learning opportunities.

Puyallup Online Academy (POA) is available for students in grades 6 through 12.

Students enrolled in POA can earn a Puyallup School District diploma through their resident school if they are taking a course there or they earn a diploma through Puyallup Digital Learning if they are full-time online.

Students enrolled in POA can participate in athletics and activities at their resident Puyallup school as long as they meet eligibility requirements.

Puyallup Online Academy students can take 1 or 2 classes  at their resident school (for example, music, PE, JROTC, or math) while attending Puyallup Digital Learning for the remaining 4 or 5 periods.

Students on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) are provided special education resource support.

Students enrolled in POA attend a weekly hybrid and jumpstart classes where they can get help from the on-site core teachers and coaches.
Puyallup Open Doors (POD) is available to students between the ages of 16 to 21 as of September 1 of the current school year. A credit deficiency calculator is used to determine eligibility.

Students enrolled in POD attend lab sessions for support from the on-site core teachers and a Life Success class.

Students enrolled in POD can earn a Puyallup School district diploma or prepare for testing for a GED. Puyallup Digital Learning will pay for the GED testing for each of the 4 tests as the student successfully completes each practice test.
